First thoughts, training and being beaten again by the Aussies.

Apparently the blog is live so this constitutes my first thoughts - I have a week to go until I set off to Lands End and my training is, I suppose, complete. Fitness seems fine - as is the trepidation (my right knee seemingly does not want to cycle the length of the country) - and here's an "interesting" fact that might indicate why - on one of many quite dull (but not 'work dull') rides recently I calculated (possibly accurately) that in order to get me successfully to John O'Groats, each knee will have to undergo approximately half a million revolutions. Fascinating. So training this week will be limited to a few trips around the block and a game of golf with Mess'rs Shields and Bale.

On the off chance neither knee packs up beforehand - I'm  very excited about meeting up in Ayr with Chris and Jane (our Melbourne mates). Chris is going to cycle along with me for the last 6 days which will be fantastic - though again a bit of concern kicking in as I suspect he's been doing some secret training with Cadel Evans or something ! So am relying heavily on "on the go"  fitness winning the battle over fatigue/knee woes)

Have attached pictures of my new bike (which despite Melissa's incessant attempts to name it "Betty") is still without name and/or gender. It's just a bike, a very nice bike - but just a bike - let's hope I still think so in 4 weeks !

NB - Chris, an admirable commitment on your part to stay up into the wee hours to watch Cadel lose yellow and Greg go close (well quite close).
